If travelling to a high risk area you will need to take anti-malaria medication at least 2 weeks prior to you arrival in South Africa / our departure date into the malaria area.
We do not recommend that you travel with toddlers to malaria areas for your holiday. They are most at risk of infection.
While most of South Africa’s National and Private game reserves are malaria free, the Kruger National Park and other reserves neighbouring the eastern coast are not malaria free. Therefore, you should consult your travel agent for accurate information regarding the malaria situation in the area you’re planning to visit.
Once you have established this, you should visit you GP or nearest Tropical Diseases Centre for information regarding the medication you need to take and the precautions to be followed. |
