The Voortrekker Monument Heritage Site

The Voortrekker Monument is one of the most popular heritage sites in South AFrica for both local and international tourists.

In the majestic monument the history of the great trek (1834 - 1854) a migration of European settlers into the interior of Southern Africa in the 19th century which drastically changed the course of South Africa history is depicted in one of the world's largest marble friezes.

Aspects of the Anglo-Boer War (1899 - 1902) can be viewed in Fort Schanskop and the Heritage Centre sports a modern exhibition on the contribution of the Afrikaner to the development of South Africa

A variety of activities such as picnicking, hiking, cycling and horse riding may be enjoyed in a safe nature reserve. There is a restuarant, fast fod kiosk and gift shop as well as a bureau de change
