Kruger Park Tour – 4 Days/3 Nights
Day 1: We depart Johannesburg or Pretoria and travel in an easterly direction over the Highveld towards the Kruger Park where you will enjoy a private safari with us as your guides. Near Witbank we pass some of the largest power stations in South Africa. It is also obvious that the maize farmers produce for the whole continent. It is the staple diet for millions across Africa. After a few hours the scenery becomes more interesting. We spend the rest of the day exploring the well-known Panorama Route that snakes through the breathtaking Blyde River Canyon, the biggest green canyon in the world. Stops will include Three Rondawels, Bourkes Luck Potholes and a waterfall or two. For really fit travellers, we are able to hike at the Potholes as well as God's Window. From here you can see the Kruger Park in the distance on a clear day. Hiking boots are not necessary as the route is semi paved.
Please note that the Panorama Route is very often overcast in Summer. Celebrate with us if it rains! We either have lunch at the community project at the Potholes, or travel on to Graskop for a late lunch. Guests have time to support the local crafters at the various markets. We arrive at the guesthouse in the early evening, in time to relax in the lush surroundings of Hazyview with a sundowner drink. Hazyview lies just outside the Kruger Park. Dinner included either at our accommodation or a night on the town...
Day 2: This morning we have a leisurely breakfast on the verandah, then head out to explore the world famous Kruger National Park. The Kruger Park extends over 20 million hectares and is drenched in history. We drive in our airconditioned minibus. Although many folk expect open vehicles, we find that our busses are a year round favourite. We spend the day on safari and on the lookout for the various animals, and hoping to see some of the big five such as lion and elephant. Leopard are elusive creatures... We make our way to one of the many rest camps to be found in the Kruger Park and spend the hottest part of the day around the swimming pool, or relaxing in the traditional rondawels (huts). We head out in again on a late afternoon safari in search of more animals. This is the best time to catch cats out on the prowl… Breakfast and dinner
Day 3: Its up with the birds again today in this African Eden, the Kruger Park. The bush lore has it that the animals are more active in the cooler part of the day. We stop and enjoy another hearty breakfast in the Kruger Park bush – we explore the region and show you some of the various ecozones that the Kruger National Park is so well known for. We continue our Private Safari game drive and return to camp by early afternoon. Siesta time… This afternoon guests will board open vehicles and go out into the bush with the field guides of the Kruger National Park. After sunset, they instruct guests how to use the powerful spotlights to help find some of the nocturnal animals such as civets, serval and genets. Nocturnal birds are often a hightlight of the night game drives in the Kruger Park. Dinner is served after your return. Weather permitting, we will have a hearty South African Barbeque or Braai as we like to call it. Vegetarians be warned - you may be surprised! Breakfast and dinner
Day 4: Oh dear, its up with sparrows again. During this time of our private safari we are on the search for the animals that we have not yet seen. Depending on their movement, we may have to pack up and exit the Kruger Park through a different gate. If not, we will return to our cosy camp for breakfast and then make a slow move for the nearest exit. We stop for final pictures, before heading back to Johannesburg or Pretoria. We arrive on the Highveld in the early afternoon, breaking for lunch on route. Alternatively, guests can fly from Kruger International Airport directly to onward destinations. Breakfast
