The Apartheid Museum is a multi-media journey through the tumultous times of legislated segregation, known universally as Apartheid, in South Africa. Discover what led to this abhorrent system being implemented and walk a little in the shoes of some of the South Africans, from all walks of life, who lived during this period.

The Apartheid Museum has been open since 2001, and is a moving journey through parts of South Africa's history - starting with the discovery of gold in Johannesburg - through the Anglo Boer Wars - Unification in 1910 and the drafting, legislating and implementing of racial segregation that gained infamy as Apartheid.

The Apartheid Museum is world renowned and has gained acclaim worldwide for its design, layout and content. Permanent exhibitions are augmented by roving exhibitions concentrating on the times and lives of prominent anti-Apartheid heroes and heriones such as Oliver Tambo, Albertina Sisulu and Steve Biko.

Visitors start their journey with an immediate random classification upon payment of entry fees. The museum offers a shortened route lasting about 1.5 hours and a long route of approximately 4 hours.
